Progress... !
On the weekend, two of my friends (Kate Flower-Donaldson and Katie Martin) came over and helped me to record my video. My sister also helped by holding up our set. After the recording was finnished, I transferred the videos onto my computer so that they could be edited. I do have windows live movie maker on my computer, but when i tried to put the videos onto the program it didn't work and the program closed itself. But luckily I had another video editing software on my computer and I used that to edit the video. I think the software is called IVOS Video Editer. Kate helped me to get the hang of editing the first part, and did the rest. After playing back the video after all unneccary parts were deleted, I noticed that the voices sound really weired, so after doing some experimenting, I found out how to change the pitch of the voices to make them a bit deeper. I would also like to add in some sound effects, but im not sure where i can leagally get them from without breaking copyright laws. Thats all for now... ill post the finnished and edited video soon. :D

Synopsis
A clear synopsis that outlines the purpose and goal of your video
The video that I am going to make is titled 'Potter Who? - The Bow Tie.' The purpose of this video is to provide entertainment and maybe even a laugh for those who watch Doctor Who and Harry potter. I hope that I will be able to finnish all of the requried editing in time for the due date of this assessment.

Progress...
I finnished making my first puppet for my video a long time ago... but here is photo of what it looks like. I havent been able to make any more recently because I dont have enough time between homework and household chores.

I have also done some sketches for the storyboard and i will scan these onto the computer later.

Uploading a Video from a Phone :@
I don't actually have a phone.. so I am using the IPhone4 as my example.
To transfer a video from an IPhone I think you will need to have ITunes accessible on the computer, and use the standard USB cord compatible with the Apple software.

Data Compression :O
What is data compression?
Data compression is using fewer bits of information than the original does, by encoding information.
What is a data compression ratio?
Why is data compression an important technique for the online world?
Data Compression is an important technique for the online world because it reduces the consumption of expensive hard disk space or transmission bandwidth.
What is the difference between Lossy and Lossless data compression?
Lossy data compression formats suffer from generation loss. This means that the file will lose quality through repeatedly compressing and decompressing. Lossy data compression formats can also sometimes produce a much smaller compressed file than Lossless data compression formats. Lossless data compression formats, on the other hand, do not suffer from generation loss. Therefore, lossless formats are the better option when compressing and decompressing files.

Which method offers the greatest compression ratio?
Lossy data compression formats offer the best compresion rate of 5 to 6%, while the lossless data compression rate is about 50 to 60% of the original file.

Why is human psychology and perception an important factor in methods of Lossy compression?
For lossy compression, if some of the details in an image, video or sound are lost, our minds can easily 'fill in the blanks.'

Introduction to video :D
What are some advantages of digital video
There are many advantages of digital video over analogue. These include:
- Digital video can be edited much more easily than analogue videos
- Digital video can be easily applied to computer generated presentations
- Digital videos are much more durable as they can be stored in comupters, and do not need to be in hard copy form (DVD), while VHS tapes can not be stored on computers
- Digital videos can, in theory, never be destroyed. this is because they are most likely backed up on a computer or memory stick, while VHS tapes will only last for 15 years at the most, because they wear and tear quite easily

What is meant by frame rate in video
The frame rate in a video is the number of images that are displayed every second
The frame rate in a video is the number of images that are displayed every second
Are all videos/movies the same frame rate, explain your answer
Not all videos and movies have the same frame rate. This is evident through some of the movies have very 'smooth' moving figures, while others seem jumpy. The 'smooth' videos have more pictures per second, this makes the images flow into eachother, and seem more lifelike. The 'jumpy' videos are that way because they have less images per second and they do not properly flow together.
What is meant by resolution, how is it measured.
Resolution means the number of pixels used to display and image. Resolution is measured in DPI (dots per inch)
What is the colour system called RGB
The colours, red green and blue are used by computers to create many other colours and display images.
Explain the video standards PAL, NTSC, and SECAM, what are the main differences between them.
The video standards PAL (Phase Alternating Line), NTSC (National Television System Committee) and SECAM (Sequential Couleur Avec Memorie) are all used to view video prorams. PAL standards are only used in Western Europe and Australia. NTSC standards are only used in America and Canada. SECAM standards are only used in Eastern Europe and France. Each of these standards are incompatible with eachother. This means, if you were to go to Eastern Europe and record a program that is running on their televisions, and try to play it here, in Australia, it simply would not work.

What standard do we use inAustralia ?

What is an IEEE 1394 port
What is an IEEE 1394 port
An IEEE 1394 port is a high speed input/output device for compters and consumer electronics. This system is capable of a transfer rate of up to 400 megabits per second.http://www.pcworld.com/article/14371/how_it_works_ieee_1394.html
Why do digital video cameras use video compression
Describe what a codec is.
Codec is short for Coder Decoder which is a comuter program which shrinks large downloaded movie files and makes them playable on the computer. Without the Codec to 'shrink' the files, any download would take at least 3 times longer.http://netforbeginners.about.com/od/multimedia/f/codec.htm
What is meant by “generation loss”, where does it happen?
Generation loss is when a VLC video tape is copied.

Broadband and Bandwidth
What is broadband?
Being responsive to a continuous wide range of frequencies.

What units are used to measure bandwidth?

bits, kilobits, megabits gigabits or megabytes.

How much faster is broadband than dial up?
Broadband is 200kbs faster than dial up. While it would take around a day to download a file using dial up, that same file could be downloaded in around five minutes if you were using broadband instead.
What are the speeds that broadband operates at compared to dial up?
What are some of the advantages of using a broadband connection to download something like a video compared to dial up?
Create an image in paint that illustrates how a high bandwidth connection can move more data compared to a dial up connection at a given time.
How many people subscribed to the internet in 2009? How many of these were for business use? How many for home use?
8951000 people subscribed to the internet in 2009. 1629000 of these were for business use and the remaining 7322000 were subscribed for home use.
8951000 people subscribed to the internet in 2009. 1629000 of these were for business use and the remaining 7322000 were subscribed for home use.
During the years between 2006 and 2010 the percentage of dial up users has dramatically dropped from nearly 50% to below 10%, while the percentage usage of mobile and fixed wireless has boomed from about 3% to 40%. The usage of cable, fibre, satellite and DSL has relitavely stayed the same during the 4 year period.
Look at the access technologies heading. How many more people are using broadband since 2005? Remember that you have to add 000 to the numbers.
What is the speed of the connection from your computer to the Sydney location on the map?
What is the speed of the connection from your computer to the U.S location on the map?
Why did the data transfer rates vary? [Hint: think of what happens when an eight lane highway moves into a two lane highway?]

Smaple sizes are measured in 'bits.'
What unit is used to measure sampling rate?

Compare the quality of AM, FM and Digital radio.
IST Video Ideas... !
I have been thinking about what to do for the video... and i think im going to do a puppet show with Harry Potter and Doctor Who combined. On the weekend im going to buy some fabric to make the puppets... i hope they're not too hard to make! I was invited into a group with Melody and Naykur, but i would rather do the puppets. Here's a preview of what I would like the puppets to look like...
this is also where i got the idea form... so i hope im not breaking any copyright laws by copying their puppets.
